Preschool 1 is an introductory program for the beginning dancers
designed to enhance rhythmic skills, coordination, musicality,
expression through music, and a genuine love for the art of dance.
Basic ballet and tap techniques are offered in a one-hour class.
Preschool dancers will perform a tap and a ballet number in the
annual spring recital.
Dress Code- Black or pink leotard, theatrical pink dance tights,
ballet-pink slippers and tan tap shoes with elastic ties replacing
ribbons. Hair should be secured away from the face. A short
ballet skirt is optional.

Level II Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combo
Level II dancers are introduced to jazz in an effort to further
educate the dancer. Ballet and tap skills are continued to a
higher level. Dance terminology is expanded and dance techniques
are reinforced. This is a one and one half hour class with
30 minutes dedicated to each subject. These dancers will perform
a routine in each of the three subjects for the spring recital.
Dress Code- Black or pink leotard, theatrical pink tights, and
dance skirt or dance shorts. Shoes required are pink ballet shoes,
tan mary jane tap shoes and tan slip on jazz shoes. Hair should
be secured away from the face in a ponytail or bun.

Specialty Classes
Interm-Adv Jazz Class- 1 hour
Int-Adv Tap Class- 1/2 hour
Drill Team Prep Class- 1 hour (ages 11 and up)
Dress Code- Black jazz pants and black leotard with black
jazz shoes. Hair away from face.
Hip-Hop Class- 1/2 hour (ages 7 and up)
Dress Code- Loose fitting clothes, black hip-hop sneakers
with Velcro closures. Hair away from face.
Clogging Class- 1/2 hour (ages 7 and up)
Dress Code- Loose fitting clothes and black clogging oxfords.
Hair away from face.
Ballet/Pointe Class- 1 1/2 hour twice per week or more.
Teacher will recommend shoes.
Modern/Lyrical Class- 1 hour (ages 10 and up)
Dress Code- Loose fitting dance pants and leotard with bare
feet or dance paws.

As we strive to achieve an award-winning team, each dancer will
be required to make the commitments outlined.
Petite and Mini Team Requirements
Cost includes monthly tuition, convention fees, costumes and all
competition fees. Tights, shoes and costume accessories are additional.
All fees are non-refundable.

Selections for group numbers take place at the conclusion of the
summer dance intensive. Rehearsal times for boot camp will be
assigned at that time also.

Junior and Senior Boot Camp:
At the conclusion of the summer dance intensive, dancers will be
placed on their teams based on their progress over the summer.
Attendance is required. This intense workshop will include guest
instructors and will focus on flexibility, technique and stage presence.
To Become a Member of the Junior or Senior Team:
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Junior or Senior Team,
please sign up in the office before July 1st for the 2008-2009 season.
Placement on team will be determined at the conclusion of the
summer dance intensive. All decisions are final.

Student Code of Ethics
Dance must be your foremost extra curricular activity.
Dance Class:
- I will attend class prepared with all dance shoes, proper
dance attire, hair secured away from my face, good work
attitude, a respectful attitude towards teachers and students,
setting a good example for younger dancers.- Perfect attendance is my goal.
Rehearsals
- Realizing rehearsals are an important way for my team to score
its best, I will not miss more than 3 Saturday rehearsals from
September to April. Violation of this will result in me being unable
to compete in a particular number or competition.- Later arrival or early departure from any Saturday rehearsal is
counted as an absence towards any missed number.- Appropriate shoes, team shirts, tan tights, black shorts, and hair
secured away from my face in a low ponytail (competition style).- I will be prepared with snack/lunch as length of rehearsal dictates.
Competitions
- I will be prepared with all costumes, shoes, makeup, props, and
accessories for all my dances.- I will arrive on time as instructed ready to warm-up with my group
and rehearse dance.- I will respect my parents, teachers and judges.
- I will stay with my group and act with proper dance etiquette at all times.
- I will say thank you when presented with any award.
- I will not make derogatory statements concerning another dancer or studio.
- I will not yell out at dancers or hang out backstage.
- I will enter and exit only between numbers.
- I will strive for a professional uniform look for each number that I am iin.
- I will wear team warm up on stage at awards for each competition.
- I will strive for my personal best and be proud of my performances.

- I will support my child's team, teachers, choreographers, and resolve
to allow the teachers to manage their dancers and choreography as
they feel best benefits the entire team.- I will exhibit exemplary behavior at the studio, performances, and at competitions.
- I will consider the feelings of other dancers and parents.
- I will address all inquires or concerns to Mrs. Janet.
- I will promote team work, sportsmanship, and a competitive spirit for
all dancers in a positive manner.- I will not make a judgment on my child's performance.
- I will leave rehearsing and critiques to teachers and judges.
- I will follow proper dance etiquette and not yell out students names
or anything else during a performance.- I will only enter and exit any auditorium before or after (not during)
a dance number. Not all studio directors teach this etiquette.
Let's set the example.- I will not video tape or take ANY type of pictures in the auditorium
or backstage of a group during their performance.

Costume fees are due November 15. You will receive a studio
invoice for the costume amount due. The students are
measured and the costumes are ordered in mid to late December.
No refunds will be made on costumes after January 15.
No costumes will be ordered without pre-payment. Costumes
arrive in mid April and will be handed out in May in time for
studio recital photos. However, account must be paid in
full for the entire season to receive your costume and
participate in the spring recital.
Note: There is an extra envelope in your payment booklet
for the costume payment and for the recital fee. They are
clearly marked to avoid confusion.

Act One Dance Studio does not charge admission to attend
the recitals. We charge a family recital fee for each family
enrolled at the studio. The recital fee is $68.00 per family
and is due February 15th.
